STREETSCAPE PROJECTS
Progress has already been made in the area of Streetscape Projects, to help revitalize the downtown area and improve the appearance of the streets and sidewalks.
1st Avenue NE between 2nd Street and U.S. Highway 278
Much needed repairs have been made to the sidewalk in front of the historic Stiefelmeyer Building on 1st Avenue NE between 2nd Street and U.S. Highway 278. City workers repaired the broken sidewalk and added real brick paver inlays, which had been previously painted on the sidewalks. The improvements also included the planting of several trees in the sidewalk that runs parallel to 2nd Street SE.

- New Pedestrian Lights on the Parking Lot Side of the Street
1st Avenue NE between U.S. Highway 278 and 4th Street
Improvements to the sidewalks on 1st Avenue NE between U.S. Highway 278 and 4th Street are currently underway.

4th Street
Streetscape projects along 4th Street are nearing completion, with tree wells in place along the sidewalks.

Upcoming Streetscape Projects
Streetscape plans for downtown Cullman include the addition of new street furnishings, lighting fixtures, bollards, and more landscaping. Improvements will continue to be made to the sidewalks in the downtown area, repairing the broken pavement and adding new trees and other foliage. Other plans include bricking in pedestrian crossings and burying overhead utility lines. The end result will be a pedestrian-friendly downtown area that is attractive and inviting.
